14 degrees! That's too much.
Unless you have enough money to buy a new car every year, or waste your money on a GM or Ford product, be happy with the car you have, and have fun with it. But realize it can be a money pit, and if all you want is power, you might find it outside of the Honda lineup, including the TL.

Why do you say 14 degrees is too much? My car runs fine with it. In fact we had it at 16 degrees, but it started to ping some. I think he set it to 14. I am probally going back their to have him drop it to 10-12 degrees. I will probally loose around 2-4whp, but its worth it to stay on the safe side. We just wanted to see how my car ran with the timmming that high. In fact I have heard no pinging yet.

RE SSBP:
He has a valid opinion although he brings it across very abrassive. He's always been that way so why is anyone surprised now? ;o)
RE SteveW:
You are so absolutely wrong. This was a HUGE reason I didn't get my Camaro SS for so long, listening to peolpe like you without driving the car for a while and thinking about everything as a whole. Let me address the points one by one.
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Our cars are light and handle much better.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Fbody is heavier, true. Handle much better on a track or high speed driving, wrong. Stock it's very close. Aftermarket handling mods, not even close anymore. The FBody can whip even a TypeR's ass when it comes to handling so don't be fooled. Granted the car does FEEL different but once you're used to it, it will go as far as you're willing to take it. The only BAD feel to the car is when you go around a corner with a bumpy surface, fast. That's when things feel odd but when do you romp around a place with tons of bumps? Rarely to never.
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>And when I am done I will have spent much less to go faster than a camaro and I could outrun it in the corners.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
We can do a used or new comparison but I'll give the Integra an advatage of 'new' as the Camaro costs a bit more here. You can get a GSR (20k) and a Z28 (23-25k) to do this comparison. Stock, with free mods you're looking at what, 15's for the integra at best case? With the camaro you're looking at mid to low 13's. Now add a Turbo and the best intercooler and what not to the Integra (add 3-5k for primo stuff) and NOS to the Z28 (1k for the primo NOS setup). The integra MIGHT do high 12's on Street tires but I doubt it. The Camaro will do a high 11 on street tires and low 11's with DR's. On the street the Turbo GSR will have to be kept on high rpm levels to not deal with as much boost lag when racing. The Camaro can accelerate in any gear very well. Obviously the NOS isn't all the time so you could argue that BUT for another 1k you can install a head/cam setup from Endyn and you'd be making the NOS power+ so once again, the Integra does well but doesn't top the FBody. This is reality.
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>And the best part it will be reliable.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Uhh, once you start getting into 8 PSI with all the goodies that come with it or Turbo, you've pretty much changed reliable to what you've done. Everyone who's stepped into what we can "the bigger boys" on this board has had some type of problem or another. You start giving up the refined car for the "race car". Your car becomes loud as hell (exhaust), shakier(motormounts, rims, stiff suspension), and things in general around as sturdy because you've fucked with so many things in your car by removing them and putting them back. The FBody DOES indeed start with a much crappier quality interior, period. The design has some pluses and some negatives but the Integra is no Lexus either. After modding I couldn't see putting the integra ahead of the Body in this catagory either. Stock vs. stock I can agree wholeheartedly but not after being modded.
I'm not trying to piss on you but rather make sure no one is fooled. I wish someone would have stepped up and expalained this earlier to me when these debates went on way back when I was deep into the mods. I enjoy SPEED period. I don't mind if it's in an Integra or an FBody. The important thing for most here is that they ENJOY their platform for it's style, technology and whatever else. If you try to start this 'best' all around car in general, you're probably driving the wrong car. Now if you were arguing about a Supra, well then that'd be different. ;o)

MIke,
I didn't see your last post about timing, doh. You can't always 'hear' minor detonation. If you keep on the throttle during detonation or the temp outside gets hot, you're going to hurt your shit. Even a bad tank of gas is goign to hammer you. Also, more timing doesn't mean more power at every RPM. It's been shown that lower timing at certain RPM ranges up top actually gives more power. That's why some of us jumped on using the 6BTM! As Jim. ;o) I highly reccomend you take a safer setting unless you're willing to give up your engine safety for 2 WHP.

Are GM products made in the same plant as Firestone tires?

Nope, but then again I'd rather have them made there than the sweatshops in china where your clear coners are made, poor kids.

No replacement for displacement -- even the endyn guys agree with that.
However, if the idea is to sell a car you've already invested money in and start making a payments on a new one, -- that never comes out cheaper. (unless it was a lemon).
I don't know about Gsr and Type R's but Progress Springs has had an article on its site about lateral 1 g del sol.
http://www.progressauto.com/delsol/hondaarticle.html
Also, I can't imagine a Type R needing much more work to be a match for most any car in cornering, but I'm just guessing from most favorable reviews I've read about it.
Buy a used motorcyle if you want fast for the dollar.
But I'm keeping my sol.
